Insights from a working group on nature transition plans
The financial sector is increasingly exposed to risks related to nature loss but can also contribute to nature restoration and conservation. Nature transition plans provide financial institutions with a practical framework to translate their nature objectives into actions. In doing so, they can better manage nature-related risks and contribute to the global Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), which aims to halt biodiversity loss by 2030 and promote nature restoration towards 2050.
This year, SFL collaborated with WWF-NL and Deloitte in organising a practical working group series with eight Dutch financial institutions. This initiative explores how nature transition plans can be implemented, using the TNFD framework as guidance.
