Mark Sanders is professor of international economics at Maastricht University. His research focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship, resilience and transition to sustainability. Since Mark joint SFL in 2011 he has developed a keen interest in the economics of monetary and financial reform and entrepreneurial (green) finance and in 2015-2018 coordinated the Horizon 2020 project Financial and Institutional reforms for the Entrepreneurial Society (www.projectfires.eu).
Mark has published on a wide range of topics in peer reviewed academic journals, teaches courses on the economics of resilience and sustainability, on globalisation and macroeconomics at the bachelor and master levels. In addition to his academic work, he is an active member of the Dutch liberal-democrats (D66) where he has actively pushed for financial and economic reforms and specifically for experiments with central bank digital currency, basic income and more cooperative governance models.
