Lu Zhang is a postdoctoral researcher at the Sustainable Finance Lab and University of Groningen. She holds a PhD in economics from Utrecht University, and has been a visiting researcher at De Nederlandse Bank (Dutch central bank) and the Bank of England. In particular, she focuses the shift in the composition of bank lending in recent decades, away from nonfinancial business and towards real estate asset markets, and its implication for economic growth and financial (in)stability. Her work has been published in academic journals and contributed to important policy debates in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
