On 24th of January SFL’s Mark Sanders and Friedemann Polzin contributed to the discussion about the role of citizen participation in greening our cities at the REBO Impact Night, an event for the Alumni of the Law, Economics and Governance Faculty. The two scholars addressed questions about community finance as a way to fund innovative projects and the role of new firms in contributing to smart city development. Throughout the discussions it became apparent that the role of the state but also responsibilities of citizens in making the transition towards green cities happen, need to be redefined in order to find mutually beneficial cooperative arrangements.
