Irene’s work is on the intersections of economics and ethics. She works on inequality, social cohesion, ethics in the economy and in economics, and postcapitalism. She has had board positions in associations and journals in feminist economics, institutional economics and social economics and won the Gunnar Myrdal Prize in 2000 and the Thomas Divine Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. She is the author of a pluralist economics textbook (Routledge) which is also available as an online course with over 77,000 learners today. She is also columnist for Dutch newspaper Trouw (every fortnight in the Saturday edition).
