Dirk Bezemer (PhD University of Amsterdam, 2001,) is a Professor in the Economics of International Financial Development at the University of Groningen. His teaching and research centres on the consequences of financial-sector development and financial & monetary policies and structures for socio-economic outcomes including innovation, productivity, income inequality and ecological sustainability. He published widely on economic development, economic methodology, money, debt, credit, banking, financial markets, pensions and international finance. Dirk also contributes to policy discussions and the public debate. He writes an economics column for De Groene Amsterdammer.
