In a new Policy Paper, Rens van Tilburg, Dieuwertje Bosma and Aleksandar Simić provide an overview of the impact of the Dutch financial sector on biodiversity. The impact is big – both positive and negative.

The sector can be enabled to act in a more ‘nature-positive’ way. The government can encourage this by rule-making, its own government budget and public financial institutions. Central banks and regulators can integrate biodiversity into supervision and monetary policy.
